“Prevention is Everyone's Business”
Since 1999, CADY, a non-profit organization, has served the communities of Lin-Wood, Newfound, and Pemi-Baker regions in various capacities with a focus on comprehensive, outcome-based prevention including environmental prevention strategies and evidence-based programs. Free community education programs and activities provided by CADY include:
- involvement in local and state initiatives via administration of bi-annual youth and community assessments;
- convening stakeholders and participating in regional prevention councils;
- developing comprehensive Media Campaigns;
- hosting parenting workshops focused on strengthening family bonds;
- providing chemical-free school- and community-based activity programs for youth that promote resiliency;
- community-based Launch Youth Entrepreneurship Program in partnership with the Common Man Inn;
- paid summer employment for youth;
- the YAAC (Youth Advisory and Advocacy Council);
- Annual Youth Leadership Conferences in Newfound and Pemi-Baker Regions;
- Project Monitor— anonymous tip line to share information about possible underage parties to prevent harmful situations before they occur;
- Restorative Justice Program, community-based juvenile justice is the sole court diversion program for the Plymouth District Court;
- referral source for Prime for Life “Under 21” a research-based education program for youth and adults focused on alcohol and drug prevention and intervention.
The bottom line is—prevention strategies and positive youth development programs are a sound investment in the future of our youth and the communities we serve.
